The St. Bart’s Church Drama Group will be performing the annual Corsham pantomime at Corsham Community Centre in late January 2009. Following on from the success of last year’s show ‘Sinbad’, we are proud to deliver a traditional pantomime that will appeal to all ages... ‘Cinderella’. The show has always been well supported and includes a large number of children from the Corsham area. Shows are on Friday 30 January @ 7.30 pm, Saturday 31 January @ 2.00 pm and Saturday 31 January @ 7.30 pm (exact times tbc). Film @ The Pound The Counterfeiters Friday 9 January, 8pm Adapted from a book by Holocaust survivor, Adolf Burger, The Counterfeiters tells of a top-secret Nazi operation which siphoned off concentration camp detainees and put them to work forging currency. In their fight for survival, the prisoners betray themselves by helping the Nazi war effort.
INU Saturday 17 January, 7.30pm The five members of INU have been a driving force behind the very strong folk music scene that has been emerging in the Bath area in recent years. The result of this collaboration is a crafted tapestry of tunes and songs drawing on Celtic, British, European and Balkan traditions to give an explosive sound.
Young Artists Recital Series: Orion IV Quartet Wednesday 21January, 12.30pm This exuberant young quartet continues the Young Artists Recital Series with a performance of a delightful programme featuring works by Dvorak, Haydn and Borodin.
Pound Screen: Mamma Mia! Thursday 22 January, 11am & 7.30pm Meryl Streep , Colin Firth and Pierce Brosnan lead an all-star cast in the screen adaptation of the hit musical ABBA. With a non stop flow of Abba classics, Mamma Mia! is a celebration of mothers and daughters, old friends and new family found.
Plested and Brown Health and Stacey Saturday 31 January, 7.30pm Critically acclaimed international comedy theatre company Plested and Brown return to The Pound to present Health and Stacey. Geography teacher Stacey quits Britain to escape the country’s fanatical adherence to Health and Safety rules and despite her geographical training, she finds herself lost in a jungle, unable to read a map.
